The ST (skin tightening) utilises a tailored spectrum of infrared (IR) light and radio frequency (RF) to deliver heat to the depth of approximately 1-2mm for IR and 1-3mm for the RF. This stimulates collagen remodelling and provides a skin tightening effect. After seeing the doctor to discuss what may be achieved, settings are documented, with the standard regimen usually involving three treatments, one month apart. The treatment does not require topical anaesthetic if only the ST is used, although it can be used if patients prefer.
If the ST is combined with SRA (skin rejuvenation) treatments, topical anaesthetic will be applied for half an hour prior to the treatment. The ST will be used in conjunction at the first, third and fifth SRA treatments. Treatments can be booked with a registered nurse following a consultation with the doctor. The ST is relatively painless with minimal after- effects, mainly very mild swelling and slight reddening of the skin. Each area to be treated will be covered five times with the hand piece, thus treatment time will depend on the number of areas to be treated. A treatment for the cheeks will take less than half an hour.
It is recommended that SPF30+ sunscreen be used whenever a treatment is carried out, to continue to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
Makeup can be applied following the procedure and skincare can continue as normal.
