Skin Rejuvenation (SRA)

Skin rejuvenation (SRA) using the elos (electro-optical-synergy) technology, involves utilising intense pulsed light, as well as radio frequency (RF) to even out the skin tone, stimulate collagen production and reduce pore size. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect which can help settle symptoms of rosacea.

After seeing the doctor to discuss what may be achieved, settings are prescribed, with the standard regimen usually involving a series of two to five treatments, two weeks apart. These sessions are booked with a registered nurse. Half an hour prior to the treatment a topical local anaesthetic cream is applied. Continue reading

Fraxel Laser Treatments

The Fraxel Laser treatment is designed to give the benefits of laser resurfacing but without the downtime, reduced side effects and lengthy recovery period. The Fraxel Laser treatment penetrates specific microthermal zones deep into the dermis leaving surrounding tissue unaffected and intact. This type of fractional treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at the same time. A prior consultation is required with the doctor to discuss which area(s) of your skin is appropriate for treatment.

The standard regimen usually involves a recommended three to five treatments, 2-4 weeks apart. Either topical or local anaesthetic will then be applied depending on the area of skin to be treated. The skin will have a pinkish tone for approximately five to seven days after treatment and is a sign that the skin is healing deeply. Swelling is minimal and generally resolves in three to seven days.

Some bronzing of the skin will be evident for three to fourteen days depending on the treatment level. The skin will then appear to flake as the bronzed dots are shed. Moisturiser can be used during this time to mask the appearance of flaking. Optimal improvement of the skin is usually visible in two to three months. It is recommended that a SPF30+ sunscreen be used daily to protect the skin from sun damage. Makeup may be applied following the procedure and skincare can continue as normal.
